At Michelle Physical Therapy, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for our patients. We believe in the synergy of the body and mind as the driving force for a happy, healthy life. We take a holistic approach to physical therapy, looking at the relationship between the external stresses and physical elements to find the best solution for each patient.
Our optimal health potential is often suppressed due to past injuries we have experienced and/or illnesses that have weakened various systems in our body. Physical, mental, and emotional stress greatly diminishes the body's ability to heal and creates a state of imbalance. Integrated manual therapy encompasses an evaluation that assesses all the systems in the body instead of only focusing on the musculo-skeletal system.
Integrated manual therapy assesses the circulatory system, immune system, nervous system, visceral system, lymph system, and biomechanical system. All the systems are integrated and need to be in balance to maintain wellness. Imbalances and injuries are rarely isolated–that's why a multiple system approach produces the best results.
This comprehensive approach enables the cause or the primary restriction in the body to be correctly identified. The restriction is addressed by using gentle, hands-on techniques that release tension in all the different layers of tissues in the body and facilitate the body's inherent healing processes. The treatment goal is to stimulate an optimal environment for the body to heal within.
Hi there! I'm Michelle Kaplita.
As a collegiate gymnast at the University of Wisconsin and University of Montana, I understand the stress that is put on our bodies. I believe that a singular approach to health only serves to provide a temporary solution, and as such I have spent over two decades defining a holistic approach to physical therapy that treats the whole body, not just the area afflicted.
I graduated from physical therapy school at the University of Minnesota, am a Certified Manual Physical Therapist, C.M.P.T. through the North American Institute of Manual Therapy, and hold a degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin.
I've had great success working with women's health issues, children with learning disabilities, competitive athletes, and with conditions caused by day-to-day stressors.
In my personal time, I enjoy cycling, downhill and water-skiing, yoga, and spending time with my family.
